Diner en Blanc Vancouver
Originating in Paris, Diner en Blanc is a unique affair, where guests don white from head to toe, and gather in a surprise outdoor venue to share in an elegant supper. This year for Diner en Blanc Vancouver, 4,500 attendees wined and dined along the wrap-around balconies of Canada place, overlooking the Burrard Inlet.
Diner en Blanc Style
Pouncing on an excuse to get dressed up, I chose a midi dress with a high neckline and low-cut back to balance it all out.
For an added chic touch, I went DIY crazy and made my own custom white fascinator in the name of some headpiece fun.
Diner en Blanc also calls for guests to bring their own, well everything. That means from table, to table setting decor, to 3 courses of food, it’s all carted into the secret location on the night.
I, of course, reasoned this an another excuse for a cheese and meat board – anyone else addicted to these things?!
A beautiful custom arrangement from Choice Flowers, complete with freesias and mini carnations, helped to complete our table.
The crowd was thick, but thanks to the keen eyes of Kuna Photography and Justin Voitic of Hush Magazine, we said a quick hello (and managed these 2 quick snaps). You can read Justin’s article here.
If you looked beyond the white sea of people, you’d have basked in the view of the inlet – another sea, this time the bluest of blue.
Before we knew it, the sun faded away.
Then came time for the customary sparkler moment!
Intermingled with the tables were art installations, such as these giant glowing letters, which spelled the word ‘MUSIC’ (I managed to grab the ‘U’).
A kind soul also gifted us with bubbles. Never mind my age, bubbles are still welcome!
Ran into many smiling faces throughout the night.
And many danced the night away!
