I’ve been swimming with nervous excitement about Salt and Shimmer for what seems like stone ages. Thoughts and ideas swirl around my head constantly – some are dreamy and others are mildly ridiculous – but I hope to focus all this energy on sharing with you.
The pressure I put on myself for this first post was ever present. So much so, that I wrote a pseudo first post to shake it off, then wrote this one. Yes, you can laugh and ‘tsk tsk’ at me, I did the same.
So…here I am. In a jumper… JUMPING into this new online diary of sorts.
The jumper is a happy shade of teal. It’s one of my go-to colours which you’ll find not only in my closet but also in my decor choices. You could say I’m a bit attached. Maybe it’s because of the way it reminds me of the azure and emerald palette of the Caribbean Sea – where I would splash around as a young child in the warm waters of Trinidad and Tobago. ‘Trinbago’, as it’s affectionately called by some, is full of blues and greens that pull you in. I admit I’m biased, but gosh do I love the place. I can daydream for ages about it.
As I snap back to Vancouver, It’s an entirely different feel. This was a day of wandering about in the urban jungle and eventually, stopping for ‘breakfast’. There’s just a certain magic that comes with peeping into the glorious windows at Tiffany & Co. and inhaling the sparkle. Once I pry my eyes away, I’m reminded that the city is full of towering architectural eye candy, but the ocean and (often snow-capped) mountains are still in the distance. Not a bad place to take a JUMP.
